CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter recently learned from the Municipal Bureau of Sports that the "China Sports Lottery" Asian Youth Climbing Championships 2023 will be held from October 18 to 22 at the Huayan Gecko King National Climbing Demonstration Park in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. The competition is held annually, aiming to provide a platform for young climbers from various Asian countries to show their talents and learn from each other.

The competition has attracted over a hundred athletes from 10 countries and regions including Cambodia, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and China to participate. Divided into men's and women's teams, the athletes are divided into teams U16 (14-15 years old), U18 (16-17 years old), and U20 (18-19 years old) based on their ages. Three events have been set up for each team: difficulty, speed, rock climbing, and all-around.

The Chinese national climbing team has sent a strong team to participate in this competition, including Zhao Yicheng, who won the U16 men's speed race at the World Youth Climbing Championships 2023, Yang Feiyan, who won a silver medal in the U18 women's speed race at the World Youth Climbing Championships 2023, and Hu Junzhe, who won the fifth place in the U18 men's speed race at the World Youth Climbing Championships 2023.

This is the third Asian Youth Climbing Championships held in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. Chongqing is known as the "mountain city", and rock climbing has a natural connection with mountains. In 2012, Chongqing held the first International Federation of Sport Climbing World Cup, which has been held for eight consecutive years. It is reported that this event is also strongly supported by China's sports lottery. (Translated by Hu Chuanmin, Fathom Language Limited)
