Cooperation in fields such as finance and technical innovation to be enhanced between Chongqing and Hong Kong

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 25, the "Economic and Trade Cooperation and Development Exchange Meeting between Chongqing and Hong Kong" jointly organized by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council was held at the Wudu Hotel.

Representatives from 16 Hong Kong enterprises in the fields of finance, port logistics, technical innovation, digital economy, commercial real estate, professional services, etc., interacted and communicated with the representatives from various open platforms, governments at the level of district and county as well as more than 30 Chongqing enterprises such as Zhubajie, Mingde Group, and Guogui Technology.

This is also one of the important events for Hong Kong economic and trade delegation during the visit to Chongqing. From October 24 to 26, Fang Shunwen, President of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, leading a Hong Kong economic and trade delegation, visited Chongqing and carried out a series of economic and trade activities. During this visit to Chongqing, the delegation visited and inspected Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park, Chang'an Auto Global R&D Center, and Liangjiang Cooperative Innovation Zone, so seek cooperation opportunities.

Chongqing, as an important strategic support for the great western development, located at the junction of the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, plays a unique and important role in the national regional development and the pattern of opening to the outside world. With our motherland at the back, connecting with the world, Hong Kong complements its advantages in industry with Chongqing. The two cities have great potential for economic and trade cooperation.

Ye Lina, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, introduced the latest social and economic development in Chongqing and the opportunities for constructing Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle and the new western land-sea corridor. She said that next, Chongqing and Hong Kong will strengthen practical cooperation in fields such as the "Belt and Road" economic and trade cooperation, finance, logistics, technical innovation, digital economy, etc.

Since the establishment of the Chongqing-Hong Kong Cooperation Mechanism, the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council has organized businessmen from Hong Kong to visit Chongqing for many times. Zhong Yongxi, General Representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Mainland China, stated that during this visit to Chongqing, he hoped to assist Hong Kong businessmen in seizing the great business opportunities of the "Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle", to promote further cooperation between enterprises from the two cities.

It is understood that Hong Kong is the largest source of foreign investment and the largest destination for overseas investment for Chongqing. Hong Kong enterprises have invested more than 3,500 projects in Chongqing, with contractual foreign investment of 70.4 billion US dollars. Hong Kong’s investment has always accounted for more than 60% of the foreign investment utilized in Chongqing.

A total of 153 non-financial projects from Hong Kong has been filed in Chongqing, ranking first in both the number of filings and actual investment, involving industries such as manufacturing, leasing and business services, and resident services. From January to September this year, the total import and export trade between Chongqing and Hong Kong reached 39.1 billion yuan, making Hong Kong the third largest trading partner of Chongqing, ranking only second to the United States and South Korea.
