Eighty contestants compete in hotpot cooking skills in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The National Hot Pot Skills Finals of the 9th National Vocational Skills Competition of Hospitality Industry and the first National Professional Hot Pot Cooking Skill Contest was held in Haitang Yanyu Park on Nanbin Road on October 29, involving 80 contestants from across the country.

The competition attracted more than 100 contestants from 17 provinces and cities across the country, and 80 of them got through to the final. A panel of judges composed of nine experts from the hot pot industry from across the country evaluated the skills of the contestants in terms of artistic modeling, technological innovation, food safety, nutrition, taste, etiquette, and services.

The competition is the first national professional hotpot cooking skills competition held after hop pot cuisine was publicized as a type of professional work, said the referee Wang Wenjun. Contestants were required to finish making the spicy soup, clear soup, dipping sauce, and hot pot banquet within 120 minutes. The competition highlights the cultural creativity, service quality, and artistry of hot pot cuisine.

In the end, 24 contestants stood out and won the gold medal in this competition. It is learned that the finalists of this competition will be recognized as the first "hot pot chefs" in China.

“This is the first time I have obtained a nationally recognized professional skills certificate. It is exciting," one of the gold medal winners of the competition said. He added he would continue to study the raw material ratio of the base material, improve the flavor of the hot pot, and make hot pot cuisine popular around the world.
