CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As one of the key livelihood issues, the improvement of walking convenience of rail stations in the central urban area is deeply concerned by the public. From 2021, Chongqing plans to improve the walking convenience of 60 rail transit stations in the central urban area in three years.

The reporter learned from Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Committee that up to now, 60 projects have been completed and put into use, which is convenient for residents in nearly 200 communities to travel. Next, Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Committee plans to upgrade the walking convenience of more than 10 rail transit stations such as Xiaolongkan Station and Zhongshutuo Station in 2024.

When you come to Xuetangwan Station in Banan District, you can see pedestrians coming and going on Wanda CIFI Pedestrian Overpass, which was put into use not long ago. The unique shape and exquisite design add a beautiful landscape to Banan District.

Located between Wanda Plaza and CIFI Lifestyle Center, the overpass is about 84 meters long and 5 meters wide. It is a prefabricated structure with two vertical elevators and two escalators. After the overpass was opened for traffic, the traffic congestion and mixed traffic in this area were greatly improved, and the traffic pressure was relieved. It is safer and more convenient for citizens to travel to and from Wanda Business Circle and CIFI Center.

In addition to the changes on the ground, the underground is also quietly changing. Xiangjiagang Station of CRT Line 6 is located at the intersection of Jiayun Avenue and Caitong Road, Caijiagang Subdistrict, Beibei District. It originally had three exits, No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, which were located in three quadrants of the intersection.

As bus harbors are set on both sides of Exit 2 of Xiangjiagang Station, pedestrians who need to take buses across the road need to detour to the traffic lights in front of Exit 2. Many citizens said it was inconvenient.

To this end, Beibei District Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Committee coordinated the implementation of the reconstruction project of the crossing passage at the lower ground entrance and exit of Xiangjiagang Station. Specifically, the original entrance and exit 2 of Xiangjiagang Station was set as the entrance and exit 2A, and the entrance and exit 2B were set on the other side of the road. The entrance and exit 2 are connected with the ground evacuation exit on the lower ground to form a crossing passage, in which the length of the lower ground crossing passage is 17.95 meters and the width is 4.5 meters; the construction area of passage interface and stairs is 206.6 square meters.

After the Exit 2B of Xiangjiagang Station is put into use, the problem of pedestrian crossing connectivity in four quadrants of the intersection is effectively solved, which makes it more convenient for citizens to take Rail Transit Line 6 and bus, and eliminates the potential safety hazard of pedestrian crossing.
