CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Changan Auto held a commencement ceremony for the construction of its manufacturing base in Thailand on November 8. As the first overseas manufacturing base of Changan Auto, it will be equipped with production workshops for painting, general assembly, engine assembly, battery assembly, and related supporting facilities. The first phase of the manufacturing base, designed to have a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year, is scheduled to be put into operation in early 2025; the total production capacity of the second phase will reach 200,000 vehicles per year after it is put into operation. As an important milestone in Changan Auto’s Vast Ocean Plan.

As the largest automobile manufacturing country in Southeast Asia, Thailand has the 10th largest automobile manufacturer and 16th largest market for automobile sales in the world, producing more than two million vehicles annually, with nearly 700 Tier-1 automobile component suppliers. Currently, Thailand is promoting the electrification of vehicles. According to the Thai government's plan, electric vehicles will account for 30% of total production by 2030, and the leading position of China’s new-energy vehicles in the global market is a perfect match for Thailand's market transition.
