CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With the theme of “Healthy Mother Express”, the medical staff of Chongqing Tongliang Women and Children’s Hospital offered free medical consultations and health services in Qinglin Village, Tuqiao Town, Tongliang District, and many villagers came to take a blood glucose/pressure test and learn about how to prevent breast and cervical cancers and how to treat common gynecological diseases.

The “Healthy Mother Express” program has been implemented in Chongqing for 20 years, said the Chongqing Women’s Federation on November 14. Since the program was launched, Chongqing has carried out breast and cervical cancer screening tests for rural women following the vision of “presenting the concept of health, disseminating the knowledge of health, and delivering service for public health”. The program has played an important role in reducing the incidence of gynecological diseases, and maternal and infant mortality rates, and improving rural women's quality of life.

“The program helped me to discover my health problems in time and reminded me of regular medical checkups. I’m very grateful for it,” said Wang, a villager in Chaihe Village, Jinxi Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing.

Wang received a comprehensive gynecological examination in the 2023 “Healthy Mother Express” activity carried out by the medical staff of Chongqing Qianjiang Maternal and Child Health Centre. A team of experienced doctors provided the villagers with free breast and cervical cancer screening tests using professional medical equipment.

The breast ultrasound examination result of Wang showed that there was an abnormal lump in Wang's left breast. Moreover, her cervical cytology examination result showed her cervical cells were atypical. The doctor recommended an in-depth ultrasound examination of the breast lump, regular cervical smears to monitor cellular changes and further cervical biopsies.

Wang said she was very lucky to have participated in the activity which helped her to find out and treat her health problem in time. After that, she worked as a volunteer promoter for the “Health Mother Express” program, sharing with her friends the knowledge of health she learned from the program.

To make the “Healthy Mother Express” program more accessible to the masses, women's federations at all levels in Chongqing make full use of the holiday to drive the “Healthy Mother Express" vehicles and widely carry out the popularization of maternal and child health care and reproductive health, and offer free medical consultation and cancer screening tests. Over the past 20 years, China has carried out three million free medical consultations, distributed 20 million copies of maternal and child health knowledge popularization materials and free drugs worth more than six million yuan, and offered more than ten million screening tests.
