CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Among the snow resorts in Chongqing, only Hongchiba in Wuxi can be called "the first snowfield in south China". Though it is located in the south of China, the snow scene here is as magnificent as that in north China. This year, Wuxi will carry out the third Ice and Snow Festival, offering chances for visitors to shop in the Ice and Snow Market and enjoy delicious hot pots.

With an altitude between 1,100 and 2,630 meters, Hongchiba abounds with vegetation. The 20,000-hectare meadow and the vast and flat trough valleys are covered with snow whenever winter comes, presenting gorgeous snow scenery.

It’s worth noting that the snow scene in Hongchiba will be available for more than four months until April of the next year. When planning your trip, you can avoid peak travel times to gain a more comfortable travel experience.

In recent years, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has conducted several scientific research activities in Hongchiba, such as breeding. Sometimes you can also see free-range sheep and horses wander on the pasture or search for food in the snow, and children ride or play with horses here.

The third Ice and Snow Festival offers a 200-meter “magic carpet” and 300-meter slideway for beginner and intermediate slides so that you can enjoy a series of exciting snow sports, such as skiing, snow treasure hunt, snow circles, and cross-country skiing. Besides, you can shop at the open-air market and taste Wuxi baked fish, Wuxi stewed preserved pig feet with potatoes, and even hot pot during the event.

The space capsule hotel in the Hongchiba scenic area has been open for two months, where you can enjoy a cup of warm tea and appreciate the beautiful snow scene outside the window. Due to the low temperatures at night in winter, the capsule hotel is temporarily inaccessible. The supporting hotel for the ski resort, Bashang Huadu Hotel, offering different styles of family rooms, health rooms, and luxury suites, will open for business at a selected date. All these rooms have heating!
