CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The main construction of the Yubei converter station began with concrete foundation pouring at the site of the Hami-Chongqing ±800kV UHV DC Transmission Project in Yubei District on December 27.
The Hami-Chongqing ±800kV UHV DC Transmission Project will be the third channel for the transmission of electricity from Xinjiang to Chongqing. With a total length of 2,290 kilometers, the channel starts from the Xinjiang Balikun converter station and ends at the Chongqing Yubei converter station.
The Yubei converter station is the first receiving converter station in southwest China. With an investment of about six billion yuan, it is the largest power grid station with the largest construction amount and the highest investment in Chongqing. It is expected to receive more than 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from Xinjiang every year upon completion in 2025, effectively enhancing the electricity supply capacity of Chongqing's power grid.
