In October last year, Chongqing Zoo asked for help to name the panda cub produced by the giant panda “Mang Zai” and received 2021 names from 6142 netizens through the WeChat official account, Xiaohongshu, and Weibo. Chongqing Zoo selected 10 names from the total and conducted a poll on its WeChat official account. "Mang Can Can" won the top spot with 13072 votes among 37754 participants.

After a comprehensive review, the filth cub of Mang Zai was finally named “Mang Can Can”. “Can” symbolizes beauty and brilliance in Chinese. The names of Mang Can Can and his twin brothers Xing Xing and Chen Chen (Xingchen means stars in Chinese) constitute "Brillant Stars".

“Mang Can Can is growing well. He is usually brought by his mother Mang Zai and the time for activities is not fixed. We will bring him some entertainment facilities to have fun shortly,” said Yin Yanqiang, Technical Director of giant pandas at Chongqing Zoo.
