The 2024 Spring Festival travel rush will start on January 26 and end on March 3, lasting 40 days. According to previous data, it’s very likely that students and workers will form the first batch of travelers. The passenger flow will be dispersive at the beginning of the Spring Festival holiday in 2024, as the holiday comes a bit late and most students in China have already started their holiday during the period from January 5 to January 25.

Data from Qunar.com show that the bookings for travel before February 11 (the second day of the Lunar New Year) are high, close to the pre-holiday travel peak; there is also a large number of bookings for tickets to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Harbin, Kunming, Haikou, Xi'an and Chongqing. Compared with the festivals in previous years, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen are becoming more popular and will receive more travelers this Spring Festival.

The average amount paid for flight tickets during the Spring Festival in 2024 on Qunar platform has exceeded 1,000 yuan, up 10% from 2020. Qunar Big Data Research Institute speculated that airline companies will offer discounts based on the sales of the tickets two days before the Spring Festival, and it’s a good chance to purchase cheap flight tickets.
