CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- 11 ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, launched a special action plan for network signal upgrade. Chongqing is working to enhance the network quality in areas with no or weak mobile communication network coverage, which includes elevators, underground parking lots, and other key places, said Chongqing Communications Administration.

Chongqing’s Action Plan for Upgrading Mobile Communication Network Signals (2023-2025) was released by 11 departments, including Chongqing Communications Administration, Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, Chongqing Education Commission, Chongqing Economic Information Commission, Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, Chongqing Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Committee, Chongqing Bureau of Transportation, Chongqing Commission of Culture and Tourism, Chongqing Health Commission, Chongqing Emergency Administration, and Chongqing Market Supervision Administration.

Centering on the four key tasks: serving the signal upgrade in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, coordinating the signal upgrade in the urban area and town clusters in Southeast Chongqing and Northeast Chongqing, implementing the signal upgrade in special places such as elevators, and promoting the signal upgrade in transport facilities, campuses, medical and health institutions, and residential communities, the Action Plan plans to provide better mobile network quality in 15 key places of four categories and accelerate the establishment of a digital service system that is universally available, intelligent, convenient, fair and beneficial.

To implement signal upgrades in special places, Chongqing will strengthen the coverage of mobile communication networks in special places such as indoor elevators (shafts and cages), underground spaces, emergency shelters, and venues for major events across Chongqing.

For the promotion of signal upgrades in key areas, Chongqing will improve the mobile communication network coverage in key areas such as medical and health institutions, campuses, transport facilities, shopping malls and cultural tourism places, residential communities, and industrial parks step by step, further promote the opening of station site resources, lay out a mobile communication network in advance, develop the mobile communication network, formulate plans for network optimization and improvement according to needs, speed up the construction of a virtual private network for the 5G industry, and promote the speedy implementation of the integrated industry application.

Since the implementation of the Action Plan, Chongqing has made every effort to promote the optimization of mobile communication networks in elevators, rail transit, and other key places, improve mobile user perception, and speed up the enhancement of service quality and network quality, said Chongqing Communications Administration. So far, basic telecommunications enterprises have completed 5G network transformation for eight existing Chongqing rail transit lines and 177 tunnel sections. The monthly cumulative network traffic and perception rate in rail transit increased significantly compared to the same period last year.

In the next step, Chongqing Communications Administration will, together with relevant departments, vigorously promote the optimization of mobile communication network in key areas such as rail transit, residential communities, and commercial office buildings, further improve the network signal coverage in Chongqing, improve the quality and service capacity of Chongqing mobile communication network, and consolidate the base of digital Chongqing information and communication network.
