CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The newly built pocket park in Tianheyuan Neighborhood, Beibei District, Chongqing, boasting unique landscape elements, wide fitness trails, and flat and well-trimmed lawns, has become a good place for residents to embrace nature. “The park is within easy reach. It is comfortable to stroll in the park,” said Sun Xiaomei January 22, who is a resident living in Tianheyuan Neighborhood. She was having fun with her grandson in the park.

Adjacent to the main road, this pocket park was an inaccessible green belt with grass and flowers enclosed by a fence. “The nearest park was one or two kilometers away from our neighborhood, and it took us more than ten minutes to walk there. It is time-consuming,” said Sun Xiaomei. They reported the situation to the neighborhood administrative department, hoping that there could be a civic park near their neighborhood.

Beibei Urban Management Bureau included this proposal in the list of measures to enhance people's livelihood. They build a pocket park based on the existing green space, which is equipped with new trails, benches, fitness equipment, and other leisure facilities, to meet the needs of residents for leisure, entertainment, and sports.

Waste tires, fragments of flowerpots, and other elements of landscape design create a sense of simplicity in the park. Following the vision of low carbon and environmental protection, Beibei Urban Management Bureau has used discarded bamboo and wood in the green belt, and old objects recycled from residents’ homes for creative design, which not only beautifies the environment but also advocates an eco-friendly and low-carbon lifestyle.
