CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In 2023, the trains of China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing) made more than 5,300 trips and transported more than 430,000 TEUs, both of which ranked the first in China, said Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd.

As an important initiative for the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing) was jointly built by Sichuan and Chongqing following the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits in 2020. As the first cross-provincial brand of China-Europe freight train in China, it started its first trip on January 1, 2021.

The past three years saw rapid growth in the scale of freight transport and the value of transported goods, improvements in the structure of supply of goods and the transport stability, and the expansion of regional cooperation of China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing). At present, China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing) operates nearly 50 routes to 110 cities in Europe and Asia. The supply of products has expanded from laptops to more than 20,000 categories of goods, such as electronic products, vehicles and parts, communication and mechanical equipment, furniture and building materials, clothing, shoes and hats, chemicals, food, medicine, and medical equipment.

For China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing), laptops, tablet computers, and mobile phones are still the transported goods with the largest volume and highest value. Today, 60% of tablet computers, 50% of laptop computers, and 10% of smartphones in the world are produced in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. Meanwhile, the Chengdu-Chongqing electronic information manufacturing cluster is continuously extended, attracting many enterprises of the electronic information industry chain.

Driven by China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing), the hub economy developed in Chengdu and Chongqing around the characteristics of such industries suitable for railway transportation as electronic, automobile, and machinery has begun to take shape. Chengdu International Railway Port and Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park, relying on the freight train hub, have gathered more than 7,000 operators of various kinds and transported goods such as vehicles, electronic information, and biological medicine with a total value of more than one trillion yuan. Chengdu and Chongqing have been selling goods to over 100 countries and regions.

Sichuan and Chongqing have also constantly improved their business environments for trading. In recent years, the customs of both sides have jointly built the China-Europe Train Center Demonstration Project, and promoted the resources sharing and interconnection between the rails and the ports; the fast inbound and outbound railway clearance business model been first implemented in China, cutting the time for customs clearance at a port by more than 24 hours. Over the past three years, the customs of the two sides have supervised accumulatively 8.2 million tons of import and export cargo handled by China Express Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing), the value of which exceeded CNY350 billion.
