CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On January 26, the list of projects selected for the second batch of the 20th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize was announced, and Chongqing Rail Transit Loop Line Project was on the list.

Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize is one of the national construction system engineering awards recognized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China, and one of the first batch of science and technology awards approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. It is also the highest honorary award for scientific and technological innovation in the field of civil engineering in China. It is understood that a total of 45 landmark projects in various fields have been selected for the second batch of the 20th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize.

The Loop Line of Chongqing Rail Transit is 50.8km long in total, with 33 stations, connecting 5 administrative districts including Shapingba, Jiangbei, Yubei, Nan’an, Jiulongpo, and some Rail Transit lines such as Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 5, Line 6, Line 9, Line 10, etc.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the construction of Loop Line hit the record in several aspects in the construction of Chongqing’s rail transit projects – a super rail transit project with the longest operating mileage in the world today as a closed loop line, with the trains of the latest types (the first As subway train), facing the greatest difficulty in crossing rivers (crossing 3 types of bridges, the Yangtze River twice and Jialing River once), experiencing the most transfers (with 11 transfer lines and 13 transfer stations in the network), with the strongest connection ability (connected to 3 high-speed railway stations, 4 integrated bus hubs, 5 city clusters, 3 lines for interconnection and 11 lines for transferring).

At the same time, the Loop Line construction project has also established a complete standard system for subway design and construction with independent intellectual property rights and adapted to the characteristics of mountainous cities. It has obtained more than 20 national patents and compiled 5 industry and local standards.

In addition, the Chongqing Rail Transit Loop Line has also won the “Award of Excellence for FIDIC Global Engineering Project”, 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, 3 provincial quality engineering awards, and 5 provincial survey and design awards in 2022. The overall project achievements have reached the international advanced level, and the train technology and interconnection technology have reached the international advanced level. Key achievements have been promoted and applied in 24 cities and more than 50 lines across the country, providing valuable experience for the construction of rail transit in mountainous cities in China, and laying a solid foundation for the formulation of technical standards for subway in mountainous cities.
