CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The immersive theatre show 'Get an Insight into the 816 Project', which is a reflection of the Third-front Movement in China, had its premiere at the 816 Project scenic area in Fuling, Chongqing on January 29.

The show describes what the veteran warrior Li Jiangchuan went through during his journey of looking for his younger brother Li Haiyang in Chongqing, telling the story of how Chinese people designed, started, and implemented the 816 Nuclear Industry Project, the largest known artificial cavern in the world.

It took over three years to complete the creation, preparation, and rehearsal for 'Get an Insight into the 816 Project', said Wang Hua, Writer and Chief Director of the show. Some of the cast are veterans. They put on the show with their true feelings and real experiences of joining the army, striving to provide an emotive and touching feast of visual and sound effects.

This show aims to pay tribute to the builders of the project, look back at history with the perspective of revolutionary romanticism, and inspire and influence the audience with art, said Wang Hua.

To enhance the viewing experience, various techniques of expression such as immersive acting, defamiliarization, recovering, and integration of performance and technology were used in the live performance to strengthen the integration of the stage, lighting, sound effects, the development of the story, and the emotions of characters.

Chen Huaiwen, a representative of the Third-Front Movement, could not help but weep when sharing the story of the movement with the audience at the premiere. “The builders of the Third-front Movement are those who remain obscure all their life but made incredible wonders. Thanks to the show that enables me to relive our comradeship, and thanks to our motherland and the people who remember this history and us.”

In recent years, the 816 Project scenic area has continued to strengthen its integrated development of industry and tourism. From its original ecological opening-up to the building of a national industrial tourism demonstration base, the 816 Project is gradually becoming one of the typical representatives of the transformation and development of the Third-Front Movement industrial heritage in China, and also an important place for tourists to understand the history of the nuclear industry and the Third-Front Movement.
