CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On February 3, Jiangjin 19th Zhongshan Ancient Town “1000-meter Long Banquet” Intangible Cultural Heritage Folk Culture Season Event was opened. At noon that day, after the traditional ritual blessing ceremony, the “1000-meter Long Banquet” was officially opened.

The “1000-meter Long Banquet” is the traditional folklore of Zhongshan Ancient Town, and it was originated in the Song Dynasty. During the Spring Festival and other major traditional festivals, some traders, travelers, pickers, etc. cannot go home because of the distance from their home, the local residents will set up banquets along the street, inviting them to enjoy the taste of the New Year, folklore and reunion, and pray for good weather and good harvests in the coming year.

The relevant person in charge of Jiangjin District said that the “1000-meter Long Banquet” has become a very influential festival activity in Chongqing, enriching the experience of tourists and boosting the development of Zhongshan Ancient Town. During the Spring Festival, Zhongshan Ancient Town will also organize dragon lantern dance, face-changing of Sichuan opera, traditional tea art, large-scale dragon dance performance and other intangible cultural heritage cultural performances.
