CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A wide range of activities under the theme of ‘The Spring in Parks’ are taking place in all parks in Chongqing, including temple fairs, sending blessings, flower shows in the Lantern Festival, folklore show, and pop-up shops, to create a cheerful festive atmosphere, said the Chongqing Municipal Urban Administration Bureau on February 5.

Various folklore activities are waiting for you

Several city parks in Chongqing have held activities such as writing and sending spring scrolls to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, offering writing brushes, paper, and venues for the invited calligraphers and painters as well as visitors to write spring scrolls and the Chinese character ‘Fu’. These works can be left for exhibition or taken away by the creators. For instance, visitors can participate in activities to send spring scrolls, ‘Fu’ decorations, goldfishes, and flowers in Hong’ensi Park and Shimen Park in Jiangbei District; garden tours, spring scrolls, and other activities are taking place in Bijin Park in Yubei District.

During the Spring Festival holiday, Dadukou District will host the ‘2024 Yidu Mass Entrepreneurship and Mass Innovation’ Bayu Lantern Puzzle Competition and Dragon Dance & Molten Iron Fireworks Show in Dadukou Park, and offer a concert, a garden tour, and dragon and lion dance in Xinhu Park.

With various themes, open-air bazaars for consumers are also accessible in some city parks. For example, the camping bazaar in Nanshan Botanical Garden offers traditional delicacies, cultural and creative products, and innovative snacks, where visitors can take photos, appreciate flowers, and experience different cultures and food.

Do not miss the chance to experience traditional floriculture

Several city parks in Chongqing plan to host flower exhibitions, flower arranging competitions, and other activities to allow visitors to experience the charm of traditional floriculture and promote traditional gardening skills.

To be specific, Eling Park in Yuzhong District will invite floral technicians to offer a flower arrangement show; Chongqing Zoo will carry out the 2024 Chongqing Spring Flower Show and 2024 Tulip Flower Show in the square in front of the main gate.

To carry on the tradition, Nanshan Botanical Garden will host the Tulip Flower Show and Cherry Blossom Festival this year. The Tulip Flower Show, consisting of several sections such as ‘Brave the Wind and Waves’, ‘Tulip Maze’, and ‘Strive for Excellence’, will exhibit 63,000 square meters of tulip flowers (60 varieties; 300,000 trees).
