Chongqing Exit & Entry Frontier Inspection Station estimates more than 40,000 inbound and outbound trips at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport during the Spring Festival holiday

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With the start of the Spring Festival travel rush, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is going to experience a peak of inbound and outbound trips. In January this year, the number of inbound and outbound trips exceeded 100,000, showing a 340% year-on-year increase; there were more than 1,000 inbound and outbound flights, which is up 200% year-on-year; and tourism is still the main purpose of most Chinese citizens to travel abroad, according to the statistics of the Chongqing Exit & Entry Frontier Inspection Station.

Before and after the Spring Festival, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will increase the number of Chongqing-Phuket, Chongqing-Nha Trang, Chongqing-Chiang Mai, Chongqing-Koh Samui, Chongqing-Langkawi, and other tourist charter flights. The number of inbound and outbound tourists will continue to grow.

As estimated by the Chongqing Exit & Entry Frontier Inspection Station, there will be more than 300 inbound and outbound flights and 40,000 passengers at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport during the Spring Festival holiday from February 10 to 17. The number of inbound and outbound trips will peak at around 7,000 on February 10 and February 17, with the peak hours of outbound trips in 7:00-10:00, 13:00-16:00, and 23:00-1:00 on February 10 and the peak hours of inbound trips in 3:00-5:00, 16:00-19:00, and 23:00-1:00 on February 17.

In January this year, the number of foreigners entering and leaving Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport reached more than 12,000, showing an increase of 560% year-on-year. Most of these foreign travelers came to China for business activities or study, and some of them planned to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Chongqing.

In light of the traffic flow before and after the Spring Festival and the customs clearance features of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing Exit & Entry Frontier Inspection Station has formulated 16 measures, including improving setup of inspection channels, optimizing transit inspection procedures, and strengthening pre-inspection, arrange enough policemen on duty and sufficient inspection channels to offer a safe and smooth customs clearance environment for Chinese and foreign passengers, said Zhang Xin, director of the Border Inspection Division of Chongqing Exit & Entry Frontier Inspection Station.
