CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the Spring Festival is approaching, the reporter learned from Chongqing Garden Expo Park that it will launch a series of cultural activities from February 10 to February 24. The activities will be themed on “Celebrating the Spring Festival in Flourishing Year of the Dragon” by means of “market + garden party + folk performances” so as to create a joyful festive atmosphere.

The 15-day activities include a number of highlights such as folklore performances, intangible cultural heritage bazaar, praying for blessings and taking photos, food exhibitions and sales, garden party, culture and science exhibitions, flowers exhibitions and special lantern setting exhibitions.

Among them, a number of exhibitions and sales activities will be launched. The thematic flowers exhibitions and culture and science exhibitions held in the main square and Zhongshan Garden will feature 25 varieties of flowers such as peonies, phalaenopsis orchids, cyclamen, and Cymbidium granflorum, totaling 1,380 pots. The exhibition will allow the public to learn about flower varieties and realize an immersive experience of walking, photographing and enjoying.

At the main gate and east gate square, the food exhibition will be launched, covering more than 20 kinds of snacks, including the cold noodles with sprouts, fried squids, Yunnan wild chestnuts, Northeast China roasted corns, Changsha stinky tofu and so on, meeting visitors’ demands from all aspects.

In addition, Chongqing Garden Expo Park customizes two thematic lanterns from Zigong, and creates 18-meter and 12-meter large-scale lantern settings outside the main entrance and the east sub-entrance, combining traditional festive Chinese knots, lanterns, peonies and other elements so that tourists can enjoy and take photos. The operation hours will be adjusted to 08:30 to 20:00.

It is reported that Chongqing Garden Expo Park will also launch three major types of experiential activities. The intangible cultural heritage bazaar will be held from February 10 to February 24, and a number of folk artists will be invited to come up with their “masterpieces”, focusing on the display of blowing sugar, sugar painting and other intangible cultural heritage items.

From February 10 to February 17, the visitors can participate in a variety of interactive activities such as funny riddles, paper-cutting, wood engraving, archery and so on.

From February 10 to From February 12, Chongqing Garden Expo Park will invite the professional dragon and lion dance teams to carry out 2 performances every day at a specified place for celebrating the Spring Festival.

In addition, Chongqing Garden Expo Park also actively creates special plant landscapes, transforms the original ecological area of 13,000m2, and plants more than 400 early American cherry trees, expanding the area of cherry blossom viewing plants, so that the visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms from mid-February to the first half of April.
