Generally, the winter (December of the previous year to February of the following year) of a region is called as “warm winter” when the average temperature is 0.5°C above the normal value, “cold winter” when it is 0.5°C below the normal value, and normal winter when it is between such two values. The “warm winter” is a climatological concept, and there are cold periods even in a “warm” year. Since this winter (from December 1, 2023 to the present), the temperature of Chongqing is generally high, the average temperature is 8.6°C which is 1.0°C higher than the normal value (7.6°C).
