CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to the Chongqing Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Committee, as of now, the primary concrete structure of Chongqingdong Railway Station has been finished, while the secondary structure is nearly complete. The steel structure stands at 92% completion, with metal roof installation, electromechanical setup, and interior decoration, all are in progress. As per the plan, Chongqingdong Railway Station aims to achieve substantial progress in both the interior and exterior decoration and the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment for the main hub of the station building by the end of 2024, and then gradually transition into the joint debugging and testing phase.

Chongqingdong Railway Station, as the intersection of Baotou-Haikou, Beijing-Kunming, Xiamen-Chongqing, and Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu railways that are essential components constitutes the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network, is the largest "four networks" integrated transportation hub presently under construction in Chongqing and China.

Chongqingdong Railway Station is set to incorporate six high-speed railways (Chongqing-Changsha, Chongqing-Kunming, Chongqing-Xi’an, Chongqing-Zhengzhou, Chengdu-Chongqing, Chongqing-Guiyang), two general-speed railways (Chongqing-Huaihua, East Hub Ring Road), and four urban rail transit lines (Line 6 East Station Extension Line, Line 27, Line 8, Line 24). Recognized as a pilot model for station-city integration development in national transportation, this holds significant strategic importance, urging Chongqing to expedite the construction of an "eight-direction" high-speed rail network.

Chongqingdong Railway Station is horizontally organized with three depots, namely Chongqing-Hunan Depot, Chongqing-Wanzhou Depot, and East Ring Depot, arranged from west to east. The station boasts a comprehensive scale comprising 15 stations and 29 lines, including 5 stations and 9 lines of Chongqing-Hunan Depot, 6 stations and 12 lines of Chongqing-Wanzhou Depot, and 4 stations and 8 lines of East Ring Depot.

Chongqingdong Railway Station has well-equipped motor train and passenger train depots, facilitating overnight storage and daily maintenance for both high-speed and general-speed trains. This setup caters to the demands of efficiently operating numerous departing and arriving trains at the station.

Chongqingdong Railway Station is slated to be fully completed and operational concurrently with the Chongqing-Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Hunan high-speed railway in 2025. Once operational, trains departing from Chongqingdong Railway Station will have travel times of 1 hour to Wanzhou, Qianjiang, Chengdu, and Guiyang, 3 hours to Wuhan, Kunming, and Changsha, and 6 hours to Shanghai and Beijing, significantly elevating Chongqing's status as a transportation hub.
