Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport handled 5.757 million passenger trips during the Spring Festival holiday.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 40-day Spring Festival travel rush ended today. The initial statistics show that during this period, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport had 37,800 takeoffs and landings, made 5,757,000 passenger trips, and handled 44,000 tons of cargo, up 17.8%, 26.8%, and 27.7% respectively from last year. The airport ranks seventh in China in terms of the number of passengers and has seen a record-breaking Spring Festival travel rush since its establishment.

The throughput of passengers in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport exceeded 160,000 person-times in the three consecutive days from February 15 to 17, setting a record high since the airport opened for business. It also ranked top in China in terms of the passenger load factor during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday.

According to the statistics, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Haikou, and Nanjing are the main destinations for Chongqing passengers during the Spring Festival holiday.

Chinese aviation market will enter the off-season after the Spring Festival travel rush, with a dramatic drop in airfares. The one-way flights to the most popular destinations will cost as low as CNY300, a decline of more than 90%, offering opportunities for affordable flight trips.

South Korea's Asiana Airlines plans to resume its flight route between Seoul and Chongqing on May 27, offering one direct flight between Seoul and Chongqing every day. The route provides more travel options for passengers who depart Chongqing and get connecting flights to North America, Japan, and South Korea in Seoul. Hainan Airlines also plans to launch the Chongqing-Milan flight route and offer one direct flight from Chongqing to Milan, Italy every Tuesday and Friday. It will be the first direct flight from the central and western regions in China to Milan, Italy. Hainan Airlines has many destinations in Europe, such as Rome, Paris, London, and Madrid, offering diverse European trips to Chongqing travelers.

At the beginning of the opening of the flight, the round-trip ticket from Chongqing to Milan (including tax) costs around 4000 yuan. You can book a flight through OTA platforms, the APP, the official website, or the WeChat Official Account of Hainan Airlines. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
