CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On the evening of March 11, nine different types of test vehicles were undergoing a test drive on the test field of the China Merchants Testing Vehicle Technology Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as China Merchants Testing Vehicle) research and innovation base located in Western (Chongqing) Science City, which marked the official opening of the test field of the research and innovation base.

Located in China Merchants Testing Vehicle Jinfeng Base, the research and innovation base covers a total floor area of 270 mu (180,000 square meters) and a length of about 5.4 kilometers. With a floor area of around 22,000 square meters, the roads on the test field include a series of test roads for reliability reinforcement, comfort evaluation, and airbag malfunction testing.

As an important part of the world-class vehicle test and evaluation base integrating laboratories with test fields built by China Merchants Testing Vehicle, the research and innovation base started construction at the end of 2022. Today, the research and innovation base is well equipped with all kinds of test facilities to recreate the typical driving environment and offer standardized testing methods so as to provide reliable data for automotive enterprises, help them enhance product quality and competitiveness, and promote the design and development of new products.

The integration of laboratories and test fields can shorten the testing time, improve the testing efficiency, and provide users with critical test data in a shorter period, said He Hao, Chief Technology Officer of SERES. The test site has reached a high level in terms of product quality, technical support, and after-sales service, enabling automotive companies in Chongqing and even in the Cheng-Chongqing region to shorten the research and development cycle and reduce costs.

Currently, Chongqing is building a trillion-yuan-level intelligent connected new energy automobile industry cluster, and China is making efforts to accelerate the industrial layout in this field. The opening of the test field of the research and innovation base will provide solid support for product development and technological innovation of automobile manufacturing enterprises in Chongqing and even across China.
