CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As of 18:00 on March 22, 2024, Chongqing Yangtze River Tunnel of Chongqing-Changsha High-speed Railway Chongqing-Qianjiang Section had been drilled for more than 1,000m, and the technical workers of China Railway 14th Bureau were carrying out the construction of Ring 500. At present, the giant “Tunnel Boring Machine” is advancing at full speed with a daily digging speed of 10m, and it is expected to arrive at the Yangtze River Section in May to start the construction across the river.

According to reports, as the key control project of Chongqing-Changsha High-speed Railway Chongqing-Qianjiang Section and a single-hole double-route tunnel, Chongqing Yangtze River Tunnel has the main line of 11,942m long, and its overall construction highlights the complexity of the characteristics through the mountains and city, and across the river and water. Among which, the section requiring tunnel boring machine is 3,845m long, and the interval across the Yangtze River is 1,282m long, which is constructed by a slurry pressure balance tunnel boring machine which reaches Yuzhong District after digging across the Yangtze River in Nan’an District. Such tunnel is the first high-speed railway tunnel across the river at the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and the first tunnel requiring tunnel boring machine which is completely assembled, launched, received and disassembled in a cave, and known as the “First Tunnel of High-speed Railway on the Yangtze River”.
