CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) Bitong Line has successfully completed rail construction, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent work such as electricity connection and integrated commissioning, according to the Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-rural Development Commission on April 1.

With a total length of 37.5 kilometers and a design speed of 140 kilometers per hour, CRT Bitong Line includes nine stations. It is an east-west urban railway in Chongqing and a demonstration line for the integrated development of high-speed railway, urban railway, and subway.

As the rail-laying project had a tight schedule and heavy tasks, the investment in equipment and manpower was increased, and resource allocation and on-site coordination were strengthened. Six rail-laying bases started construction in opposite directions between Bishan and Tongliang, solving various difficulties and ensuring the efficient progress of on-site construction. Yunwushan Tunnel completed the rail-laying task eight days ahead of schedule, laying a good foundation for the follow-up electromechanical construction and integrated commissioning.

CRT Bitong Line has completed 64% of the post-construction work and is expected to open to traffic at the end of December 2024. Upon completion, Bitong Line will connect with Line 1 at Bishan Station and connect with Line 27 which is still under construction, allowing passengers to travel from Tongliang to Bishan in around 30 minutes and from Tongliang to downtown Chongqing within one hour.
