CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Expressway plans to build 840 new charging spaces for new energy vehicles in 2024 and achieve the full coverage of EV charging services in expressway service areas by the end of this month, said the company.

Chongqing Expressway has built 20 battery swapping stations for small vehicles, five battery swapping stations for heavy trucks, and 158 fast charging stations in expressway service areas. The average distance between the expressway service areas that offer EV charging services is about 50 km. Today, there are 779 charging spaces across 34 districts and counties of Chongqing.

During the holidays, Chongqing Expressway will increase the number of mobile charging facilities based on the prediction of traffic flows in expressway service areas in Chongqing. Innovative measures, such as comprehensive guidance on traffic flows in two-way service areas, will also be actively adopted to enhance the charging capacity during the holidays.

In addition, Chongqing Expressway has built 14 supercharging stations that offer at least 480 kW of power and 19 supercharging points.

Chongqing Expressway plans to build 71 supercharging stations and offer 840 new charging spaces in 2024, bringing the number of supercharging stations to 85 and increasing the number of charging spaces to 1,619 by the end of the year.
