CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- To provide passengers with better sanitation facilities and more comfortable travel experiences, Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group has finished upgrading the first batch of old public restrooms in some rail transit stations as of April 3.

The first six upgraded public restrooms, situated in the Xiaoshizi, Dajuyuan, Hongtudi, Huahuiyuan, and Ranjiaba stations of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 6, have got new looks with renovated ceilings, floors, and walls. Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group has also optimized the layouts of toilets and added new facilities and equipment to the restrooms so as to enhance the service capacity.

To minimize the dreaded washroom queue for female users during the travel peak, Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group has optimized the layouts of toilets and increased the number of squat toilets. For example, male and female restrooms were inverted, and three new squat toilets were added to the female restroom in Xiaoshizi Station.

In addition, the company has taken measures to address the public’s concern about the odor of public restrooms, such as adding new ventilation systems, upgrading ducts for even air supply and exhaust, optimizing the airflow path, purifying air, and deodorizing and sterilizing the restroom.

The restroom upgrade scheme of Chongqing Rail Transit also took into consideration the experience of key population groups. For example, wall-mounted baby changing stations were set up in restrooms so parents could conveniently feed their babies and change nappies. Grab bars and door locks in gender-neutral bathrooms and blind tracks were optimized to improve the toilet experience of special passengers. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
