CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Chinese Orchid Cultural Connotation and Contemporary Value Exchange Meeting was held in Nanshan Botanical Garden, where the experts and members of Chongqing Garden Industry Association, Chongqing Society of Landscape Architecture, Chongqing Orchid Culture Research Association, and other institution gathered to discuss the development of Chongqing’s orchid industry.

As one of the famous flowers in traditional Chinese culture, orchids are endowed with a unique cultural meaning and are always synonymous with nobleness, elegance, and pureness for their long and slender shapes and pleasant fragrances. Nanshan Botanical Garden has a long history of cultivating orchids, with a 30-mu orchid-specific garden where more than 40 species of orchid plants (nearly 500 varieties) are well preserved.

The Chinese Orchid Cultural Connotation and Contemporary Value Exchange Meeting offers various forms of activities, such as the orchid exhibition, cultural display and dissemination, keynote lectures, and members' exchanges, aiming to promote the exchanges in Chongqing’s orchid culture, develop the orchid industry, and boost economic growth.

The orchid exhibition features more than 20 species of orchids, the stories of Chinese literati and scholars loving, planting, and appreciating orchids since the Spring and Autumn Period, as well as the development, cultivation techniques, and classification methods of orchids in various periods.
