CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On April 18, “Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2024” was launched by Shanghai Ranking, a professional grading consultancy for higher educational institutions.

The Ranking targeted over 1,000 higher learning institutions at undergraduate level in China, which were divided into comprehensive institutions, 7 types of single-subject institutions, 4 types of non-public institutions, were ranked respectively by using a differentiated index system.

The grading system of the Ranking comprises ten major grading modules, which were subdivided into 36 grading dimensions, embedded with 100 grading indicators, involving 373 grading variables, and it was a three-dimensional and monitoring grading for the school-running level of universities in China.

There were a total of 594 universities in the Shanghai Ranking Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2024 (main ranking), 11 of them from Chongqing. Among them, Chongqing University was 33rd, Southwest University came 69th, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications was in place 152, Chongqing Jiaotong University took 188th, Chongqing Normal University was 214th, Chongqing University of Technology was in 237th spot, Chongqing University of Science & Technology came 299th, Yangtze Normal University took 315th, Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences was 342nd, Chongqing Three Gorges University was in 378th place, and Chongqing University of Education was 436th.

Following the principle of ranking according to categories, single-subject universities (medical, financial, language, political science & law, ethnic, and sports) were ranked respectively using differentiated indicator system. Each type of universities in the Ranking included the institutions of this type, as well as comprehensive institutions and single-subject institutions of other types. Ranking all universities by using a differentiated indicator system shows the ranking of a university among the same type of universities and its reference ranking among all universities in China.

84 medical higher learning institutions were included in the Ranking, one of them from Chongqing, i.e. Chongqing Medical University in 9th place.

54 financial higher learning institutions were included in the Ranking, one of them from Chongqing, i.e. Chongqing Technology and Business University in 19th place.

16 higher learning institutions of language were included in the Ranking, one of them from Chongqing, i.e. Sichuan International Studies University in 8th place.

34 higher learning institutions of political science & law were included in the Ranking, 2 of them from Chongqing, i.e. Southwest University of Political Science & Law in 3rd place, and Chongqing Police College in 14th place.

180 private higher learning institutions (comprehensive, science and engineering, normal, agricultural, ethic, sports and medical) were included in the Ranking, 5 of them from Chongqing, i.e. Chongqing College of Humanities, Science & Technology in 18th place, Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology in 56th place, Chongqing College of Mobile Communication in 89th. Chongqing Institute of Engineering and Chongqing Vocational and Technical University of Mechatronics were also in the Ranking.

36 private financial higher learning institutions were included in the Ranking, 2 of them from Chongqing, i.e. Chongqing Finance and Economics College in 7th place, and Chongqing College of International Business and Economics in 17th place. (Translated by Hu Chuanmin, Fathom Language Limited)
