CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The first Chongqing Aviation and Tourism Promotion activity, organized by Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, took place in Kaizhou District from April 17 to April 18 to further promote the sound integrated development of civil aviation and tourism industries in Chongqing and develop new tourism products.

Enhance its influence as an aviation hub

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, as a gateway and hub connecting China and the rest of the world, ranked sixth in China in terms of 2023 passenger throughput and has been established among the top 50 airports in the world, with a passenger and cargo air route network connecting five continents. Now the airport operates 112 international and regional air routes that reach 233 cities, remaining one of the busiest international airports in the world. To further enhance its influence as an aviation hub, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has increased and resumed many international and domestic air routes and increased the number of flights.

“We plan to achieve the coordinated development of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and the cultural, tourism, and commerce industries across Chongqing and make Chongqing’s tourist attractions and specialties known to the world leveraging the passenger and cargo air route network that has connected five continents,” said Lei Biming, General Manager of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

The promotion activity was launched in Kaizhou because Kaizhou is concentrating on building an important growth pole for northern Chongqing and northeast Sichuan, a large comprehensive nationwide transportation hub, a large city with a decentralized layout of towns, a national agricultural green development pilot zone, a key green industrial cluster area in Chongqing, and the ‘Big Three Gorges · Big Qinba Area’ International Tourism Resort. It is believed that the cooperation between the international aviation hub and the large comprehensive nationwide transportation hub will bring immense benefits.

Promote the integrated development of aviation and tourism and the coordination between supply and demand planning

With the increasingly well-developed international and domestic air route networks, as well as the implementation of further policies to facilitate inbound and outbound travel, this year has seen a significant rise in the potential demand for inbound and outbound tourism. Different from conventional promotion activities, during the Chongqing Aviation and Tourism Promotion in Kaizhou, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, together with relevant airlines and travel agencies, visited tourist attractions and industrial and commercial enterprises in Kaizhou for cooperation, and discussed with local tourist departments the future cooperation plan for the integrated development of aviation and tourism, to promote the growth of air aviation and tourism market in Kaizhou.

“The promotion activity will further display the tourism resources and products of Kaizhou District, attract tourists from outside Kaizhou District, and make the tourism resources and products of Kaizhou known to the whole country and even the world,” said Chen Lingjun, Deputy Director of the Kaizhou Culture and Tourism Development Committee. Kaizhou is well-known for being the hometown of Marshal Liu Bocheng, and its Hanfeng Lake and ‘Qinba Mountains’ (known as Tsinling Mountains or Qin Ling). With such resources, Kaizhou District has taken the construction of Hanfeng Lake National Holiday Resort as a starting point to develop products for ‘Red Revolutionary Tours’, ‘Green Ecological Tours’, ‘Blue Aquatic Tours’ and ‘Golden Business Tours’ in recent years, Liu added.
