CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the May Day holiday is approaching, Chongqing has again become one of the top ten popular tourist destinations in China, according to data provided by a third-party platform.
Data released by Qunar.com on April 28 showed that Chongqing ranks second in hotel bookings for the upcoming May Day holiday only to Beijing.
To date, the hotel prices in Chongqing are almost the same as last year, with hotels near Jiefangbei/Hongyadong, Guanyinqiao, Jiangbei International Airport, Shapingba Station, and Chongqingbei Station in great demand.
In terms of scenic spot bookings, Chongqing Zoo, Chongqing Happy Valley, Baidi City (White Emperor City), Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway, and Wulong Three Natural Bridges, will become the top five popular scenic spots for tourists during the upcoming May Day holiday.
Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Changsha are the top ten popular tourist destinations in China during this year's May Day holiday, according to Ctrip’s 2024 May Day Travel Trend Insight Report.
Specifically, the number of tourist bookings in Chongqing increased by 24% year-on-year, with Chengdu, Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an, and Guangzhou being the main tourist sources for Chongqing; Chengdu, Xi'an, Beihai, Guiyang, and Wuhan are the top five tourist destinations preferred by Chongqing residents.
In addition, Chongqing has seen a 78% year-on-year growth in outbound travel bookings and a 247% year-on-year increase in inbound travel bookings for the upcoming May Day holiday, with Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Canada being the main sources of oversea tourists.
