CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Board a paraglider and experience the thrill of soaring through the sky; hop on a helicopter for a low-altitude tour and admire the 8D mountain city landscape from a bird’s eye view... During this May Day holiday, the exhilarating and entertaining low-altitude flight experience has emerged as the "new favorite". Many locals and visitors to Chongqing are switching to "flight mode" to capture the essence of the mountain city.

According to data from the Municipal Party Committee's Military-Civil Integration Development Office, during the inaugural 2024 Chongqing Low-Altitude Flight Consumption Week held from April 30 to May 5, the city's focal flight zones attracted nearly 510,000 passengers. There were a total of 2,220 flight sorties, accumulating 1,108 flight hours. Consumers actively participated in acquiring 44,000 consumer coupons, which stimulated low-altitude flight consumption amounting to 2.2578 million yuan. Furthermore, the city inked 17 low-altitude economic intention agreements, totaling an investment commitment of 2 billion yuan.

"Low-altitude flight fever" is surging in many scenic spots.

On April 30, an exciting and romantic "air wedding" was held at Longxing Tongyong Airport in Liangjiang New Area.

This ingenious "air wedding" marks one of the inaugural low-altitude flight consumption activities in Liangjiang New Area. Throughout the May Day low-altitude flight consumption week, districts and counties such as Banan and Liangping, along with scenic spots like Changshou Lake and Longshui Lake, have established low-altitude flight activity zones, igniting a widespread "low-altitude flight fever."

"Thrilling, and so much fun!" On May 2, at the Changshou Lake Scenic Area, a 90-year-old grandmother tried her hand at flying a seaplane.

"3, 2, 1, jump!" At the Chongqing Panda high-altitude skydiving base at Liangping Airport, many tourists experienced the exhilarating rush of skydiving with their adrenaline pumping.

Dressed in uniform and donning sunglasses, Mr. Wu, a tourist, indulged in the immersive experience of piloting an aircraft at the Nanpingba Island Flight Base in Banan, following the captain's commands. "Observing rivers, mountains, and cityscapes from above provides an unobstructed view of the mountain city's unique urban features, which is truly exhilarating!" remarked the flight base's manager. He noted that during the May Day holiday, flight reservations at the base soared daily, with nearly 200 flights flown each day.

Low-altitude economy gains momentum in the first batch of 6 pilot zones.

Low-altitude consumption "sets the stage" for low-altitude economy to "performs".

During this consumption week, areas like Liangjiang New Area, Liangping, Dazu, and many others have established flight activity zones, concentrating on introducing various new formats and scenarios for low-altitude consumption, and actively innovating within the low-altitude economy.

"The low-altitude economy is one of the strategically emerging industries currently prioritized by the nation. It represents a new direction for the next wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and is a significant embodiment of developing new productive forces." According to the head of the Municipal Military-Civilian Integration Development Office, Chongqing has previously designated Banan, Yongchuan, Dazu, Liangping, Wulong, and Liangjiang New Areas as the first batch of pilot zones for low-altitude economy. These six pilot zones will seize opportunities for the reform and development of low-altitude airspace, driving Chongqing to establish itself as a leading hub for low-altitude economic development.
