CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing, known as the most tourist-friendly city in China, is included in the list of China’s Top Ten Cases of Domestic Tourism Promotion for 2023 released by the Resource Development Company of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on May 13.

During the Spring Festival holiday in 2023, the Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge was closed to vehicular traffic to provide tourists with an exclusive ‘footbridge’, which was highly commended by Hua Chunying, Spokesperson from China’s Foreign Ministry, on Twitter.

To address travelers’ increasing demand during holidays, Chongqing Rail Transit extended the operating hours of trains, and some of the trains ran to 2:00 a.m. Some internet users commented that Chongqing was spoiling its visitors.

In addition, Chongqing built a viewing platform for visitors, so that they could view and take pictures of the CRT Liziba Station. Chongqing also advised its residents to choose off-peak travel to reduce congestion during holidays.

The China Academy of Tourism’s latest survey data show that Chongqing is the most desired tourist destination for Chinese in the post-pandemic era; in the list of the 20 Charming Cities in an Extraordinary Decade, Chongqing ranks first in terms of tourist satisfaction in China; it also ranks first in the list of most influential Chinese tourism cities in 2022 released by Sohu Tourism.
