CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Zhang Yongwu, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, gave an introduction to the 6th Western China International Fair for Trade and Investment (WCIFIT) at the press conference held by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government.

Hosted by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the WCIFIT dates back to 2018 and has been held for five years. With the continuous improvement in the scale, standards, and quality, the WCIFIT has played a significant role in helping western China to integrate into the Dual Circulation strategy, contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading, and facilitate the opening-up and cooperation and has become an important platform for the industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality economic development of western China.

“The 6th WCIFIT will open in Chongqing International Expo Center and Chongqing Yuelai International Convention Center between May 23, 2024 and May 26, 2024. Now preparations are under way for the upcoming WCIFIT,” said Zhang Yongwu. With ‘new west, new manufacturing, and new service’ as the theme, Belarus as the guest country of honor, and Sichuan Province as the guest province of honor, the 6th WCIFIT focuses on the modern producer service industry and mainly includes thematic activities and exhibitions. Covering an area of 130,000 square meters, the upcoming WCIFIT features 11 pavilions in four themes: Comprehensive Images, Modern Services, Modern Manufacturing, and International and Regional Cooperation.

The 6th WCIFIT will stage a series of activities, such as the opening ceremony, the signing ceremony of major projects, and 12 special programs for industrial associations and global institutions in logistics services, innovation services, specialized services, western investment, and global procurement. To implement the work arrangements of the Chongqing Municipal Ministry of Commerce for a ‘Year of Consumption Promotion’, the upcoming WCIFIT will offer promotion activities to boost consumption.
