CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Large areas of green grass have grown thick and velvety on the bank of the Lixiang Creek, a tributary of the Yangtze River in the Mexin Wine Town Scenic Area in Fuling, Chongqing. With a blue sky above and cattle grazing in the distance, the grass fields are as enchanting as the Altay Grassland in Xinjiang 3,000 kilometers away.

The undulating green carpet beside the Yangtze River in the Mexin Wine Town Scenic Area, showing the unique topographic characteristics of Chongqing, is surrounded by guesthouses, the horse-riding yard, the area for outdoor activities, the playground, racing tracks, the catering area, the car park, and the campsites for tourists. The beautiful grass fields are overlooked by Colorful Castle Hotel and riverside guesthouses.

The beautiful grass field presents itself in the Mexin Wine Town Scenic Area every year. As the only 4A-level Chinese tourist attraction in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in Fuling District, the Mexin Wine Town Scenic Area boasts the beautiful natural scenery of the Yangtze River and the Lixiang Creek. Every year in April and May, when the Three Gorges Dam releases water and the water level begins to drop, the water-level fluctuation zones of the Yangtze River and the Lixiang Creek will be full of wild grasses, becoming beautiful grasslands in the scenic area.

The grass fields in the Mexin Wine Town Scenic Area have become a magnet for tourists. Some visitors came for great family fun, some took a sketch there, some broadcasted a live singing performance, and some enjoyed riding a horse on the grassland.

“In the past, there were only villagers herding cows here. As the grasslands become increasingly popular, they have become photo spots for tourists. I also built my house into a guesthouse,” said villager Li Xiaofeng, adding that the beautiful grasslands have become a preferred destination for leisure and entertainment and provided villagers with new ways to increase income.
