CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 6th Western China International Fair for Trade and Investment (WCIFIT), which started from May 23 to May 26, was a complete success, said Zhang Yongwu, the WCIFIT Organizing Committee Office Director, the party secretary and the director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, at the achievement briefing of the 6th WCIFIT on May 26.

The 6th WCIFIT was hosted by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, with Belarus as the guest country of honor and Sichuan Province as the guest province of honor. The grand event is simple and pragmatic, fully demonstrating the firm confidence of western China in further opening up and the huge investment and trade potential of China’s western region, and representing a vivid epitome of the vigorous development of western China, said Zhang Yongwu.

The 6th WCIFIT is a western-based fair for the world in China as shown in the following aspects:

Firstly, the theme of the fair was pragmatic and prominent. With ‘new west, new manufacturing, and new service’ as the theme and centering on the promotion of the deep integration of the advanced manufacturing industry and modern service industry, the 6th WCIFIT staged a host of activities themed on logistics services, innovation services, specialized services, western investment, and global procurement, sharing the historic opportunities with worldwide investors regarding the development of western China in the new era.

Secondly, the connotation of opening up was renewed. The ‘nine key hubs’ proposed in the opening ceremony provided new ways of thinking and forged new paths for the opening up in inland China.

Thirdly, the fair was a splendid gathering of important guests. Turchin Alexander, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Minsk State of Belarus, the mayors of 39 state/provinces from 25 countries, 23 officials of embassies and consulates in China, including the Belarusian Ambassador to China, and heads of foreign business associations and institutions attended the 6th WCIFIT. At the same time, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and more than ten officials at the provincial and ministerial levels from Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province, Xizang Autonomous Region (also known as Tibet), Gansu Province, and Qinghai Province took part in the related activities.

Fourthly, well-known enterprises gathered at the fair. Nearly 1,800 enterprises and institutions from 40 countries and regions, 27 provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities in China, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region participated in the 6th WCIFIT, including 66 large central enterprises and 67 world's top 500 companies and multinational companies. It was the first time that China Logistics Group, China Testing & Certification International Group, Nachi (China), and other well-known enterprises had participated in the event.
