CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The four-coach trains of Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) represent the earliest memories of Chongqing Rail Transit for most people. Today, these old four-coach trains have been upgraded and transformed into eight-coach trains, and one of them has been in service, said Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group.
With the growing numbers of CRT passengers, the trains of Line 2 have been available in six-car trainsets and eight-coach trainsets, replacing all four-coach trains.
“We have upgraded and transformed four-coach trains into eight-coach trains,” said the official from Chongqing Rail Transit Group, adding that four carriages were added to the middle of the original four-coach train, and the door system, broadcast system, network system, etc. of the train were all upgraded.
The most obvious change to the train is that the dynamic map screen has been enlarged greatly from 12 inches to 43.1 inches, presenting clearer and more beautiful screen pictures and information about the stations of transfer and arrival stations. Besides, LED screens have been added at both ends of the coach so that passengers can easily view the information about the operating trains.
To enhance the passenger riding experience, all seats of the train have been replaced with stainless steel seats made of anti-slip materials, with the floorcloth using more non-slip, dirt-resistant, wear-resistant materials. The circular handles have also been replaced with triangular handles which are more comfortable and easier to grab. The LED lighting of the new train can increase brightness while saving energy.
In addition, the air conditioning systems of the trains have been upgraded to offer “freezing cold” and “slightly cold” coaches. They can automatically adjust the temperatures according to the number of passengers.
In addition to the new eight-coach train in service, another new eight-coach train has been completed and under test, and four four-coach trains are under transformation. It is expected all four-coach trains will be upgraded and put into operation in 2025 to provide passengers with a more convenient travel experience. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
