CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At about 11 o’clock on May 28, with the installation of the last aluminum-magnesium-manganese roof panel of Chongqingdong Railway Station, the steel structure roof of Chongqingdong Railway Station which is the largest high-speed railway hub station in the western China was completed, and the Station entered the stage of decoration and construction.

The station building of Chongqingdong Railway Station and its supporting integrated transportation hub project are located in Chayuan Area, Nan’an District. Chongqingdong Railway Station is a pilot project of station-city integration for the construction of a strong transportation country, the largest station-city-landscape integrated high-speed railway hub under construction in China, the largest high-speed railway hub in the western China, and one of the four major passenger stations in Chongqing.

The total construction area of Chongqingdong Railway Station Hub is about 1.23 million square meters, which is equivalent to 170 standard soccer fields. After completion, it will serve many railways such as Chongqing-Hunan High-speed Railway, Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway, Chongqing-Guiyang High-speed Railway, Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway, East Ring Line of the Hub, and Chongqing-Huaihua Railway. It is a mega comprehensive transportation hub with high speed railway as the core, integrating rail transportation, bus, long-distance transportation, rental, commerce and office services.

Proceeding from Chongqing’s municipal tree, ficus virens, the shape design creativity of Chongqingdong Railway Station is based on “endless landscape and towering ficus virens”, and the façade of its building adopts the brushwork of Chinese landscape painting, displaying the majesty of Three Gorges and the tough and upright posture of ficus virens through the form of six columns, implying that the Hub connects endless mountains and rivers, and it is broad and accessible.

It is understood that Chongqingdong Railway Station will enter the external decorative construction phase, and it is expected to be completed and put into use simultaneously with Chongqing-Qianjiang Section of Chongqing-Hunan High-speed Railway in 2025. By then, it will be of great significance for Chongqing to build a “crisscrossed” high-speed rail network and accelerate the construction of an international comprehensive transportation hub and a demonstration area of a strong transportation country.
