CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The old block has a long history and charming old buildings.

It is understood that the construction of Maanshan Traditional Landscape Area is progressing well, and expected to be completed in October this year as a whole. In the future, it will be linked with the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing and Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum to realize the open block shared by hosts and visitors, attracting tourists from all over the country to take special photos from several aspects.

It got its name because it looks like a saddle.

Located in the south of the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing, Maanshan is a typical mountain city settlement space. Because it is high at both ends and low in the middle, and resembles a “saddle”, it got this name during the period of the Republic of China.

The precious humanistic and historical memories of Chongqing are recorded here. There are a total of 32 historical buildings in Maanshan, including the well-known municipal-level cultural relics protection unit, the Former Residence of Shen Junru (Maanshan No. 81), which is different from the other small green-bricked houses here. The small courtyard next to it and it stand out with their bright yellow exterior walls.

Hengshe (Maanshan No. 47) has been selected as one of the third batch of historical buildings in Chongqing, where the famous newspaperman Zou Taofen once lived. Nowadays, through the years, the alleys and ficus virens here are just as they were in the beginning; and the green bricks and tiles are still the same.

It’s been seven years, and it’s coming back.

As one of the 29 traditional landscape areas in Chongqing, Maanshan Traditional Landscape Area Project was launched in July 2017, and it was renovated, protected and repaired by Chongqing Kangxiang Industrial Group Co., Ltd.

The Project is divided into east and west two areas for implementation. The buildings in the west area are mainly characterized by the style of the war period, with protection and repair, original rectification and environmental remediation as the main focus, while the buildings in the east area embody the architectural characteristics of the Soviet Experts Building in the 1950s, with demolition and reconstruction and underground garage construction as the main focus. The construction of the west area was began in July 2017 and completed in 2020; and the construction of the east area was began in 2020.

At present, the construction of the main structure of all the buildings in the east area has been completed, 90% of the external wall decoration has been completed, and the garage installation has been completed. Next, the construction speed of the project will be continuously accelerated, and it will strive for the overall completion in October this year.

In the future, Maanshan Traditional Landscape Area will be linked with the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing and Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum to realize the open block shared by hosts and visitors, creating diversified consumption scenarios involving “culture, commerce and tourism”, and attracting tourists from all over the country to take special photos from several aspects.
