CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the future, when taking the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway, will passengers be able to experience the thrill of "flying" in the air? At 3:00 p.m. on June 11th, the challenging construction project of the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway-the Caijiagou double-line mega bridge-completed the 16th main pier. This is currently the highest bridge pier for ballastless track high-speed rail under construction in China, designed to be 150.5 meters tall.

This means that in the future, trains designed to travel at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour will race across these bridge piers, which are approximately as tall as a 50-story building. If you gaze out the window at that moment, you will be able to take in the breathtaking scenery of mountains and rivers.

The Caijiagou double-line mega bridge is located within the territory of Fuling District in Chongqing. It has a length of 2113.3 meters and a total of 62 piers. The bridge was designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREEC) and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering.

When will the Caijiagou double-line mega bridge be completed? According to Wang Jianhua, the commander of the Fengdu Command Department of Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway Co., Ltd., the 15th bridge pier was completed in January this year, and the 16th bridge pier was completed on June 11th. The entire bridge has completed 96.2% of the designed pile foundations, 82.8% of the designed caps, and 69.4% of the designed piers. The entire bridge is expected to be fully completed by the end of June 2025.

The Chongqing-Wanzhou high-speed railway has a total length of 251 kilometers and is designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. Once completed, the travel time from the central urban area of Chongqing to Wanzhou District will be reduced to less than one hour. At that time, the northeast Chongqing region will have both the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway and the Chongqing-Wanzhou high-speed railway, both with speeds of 350 kilometers per hour, which will be of great significance for facilitating travel for residents along the route and promoting the development of tourism resources in the Three Gorges area.
