CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A drone used to transport medical supplies completed its first flight and landed at the Affiliated Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University recently, marking the first time that drones have found their application to the transport of medical supplies in Chongqing. The use of drones will better satisfy the demand for timely response to medical treatment and further improve Chongqing’s medical and health security and public health emergency treatment system.
On that day, a low-altitude logistics drone containing test specimens took off from the Da'an Branch of the Affiliated Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and after a 13-minute flight as per the set route, landed smoothly in the Xuanhua Branch of the hospital, completing the aerial transport task.
"It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the Da'an hospital to the Xuanhua hospital, and the drone transport has cut the time for transporting medical supplies between the two hospitals by more than half," said the official of the Affiliated Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, adding that the fully autonomous L4-level aerial autonomous driving capability and a maximum load of nine kilograms enable ow-altitude logistics drones to serve as flying couriers.
Drones have significant advantages in the cross-regional transportation of biological samples for emergency, testing, and pathology uses. With real-time monitoring and temperature control functions, drones can meet the transportation needs of blood materials, such as red blood cells and platelets within a specific temperature range, and ensure the safety of specimens.
