Guo Xiuwu, Conductor of Chongqing Symphony Orchestra, directed the baton, and performed with the players from Chongqing Symphony Orchestra as well as the famous young violinist Gao Can, etc., not only interpreting the classic “Waltz No. 2 by Dmitri Shostakovich”, “Prelude in G Minor”, “Pomp and Circumstance Marches” and others, but also the “Beaming With Joy at Sunrise” and “Sail to the Sky” of Chongqing characteristics, providing the public a musical feast.

The organizer said that the musical selection was to convey the spirit of Chongqing, through the form of music to the upcoming Chinese athletes, especially Chongqing athletes, and every person in Chongqing.

Gao Can played classic pieces such as “Victory Boogie Woogie” and “The Butterfly Lovers” in the concert, which was the first time for him to be on the stage of the riverside concert. “I prefer such an outdoor stage to a theater because it’s closer to audiences.”

The appearance of Liu Ben, the gold medal coach, was a pleasant surprise to the public present. In his career as a coach, he trained six world diving champions winning six Olympic gold medals.
