CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With the theme of "Skill Cooperation Joint Development" and adhering to the concept of "Open, Intelligent, Green, Safe, Special", 18 competition items of the second Belt and Road International Skills Competition kick offed in Chongqing. The reporter visited the competition venues of Chongqing International Expo Center a few days ago.

Freestyle massage show their respective skills

Will items in beauty salons or spa shops become competition items?

"Of course, beauty is an international skill, and the competition content includes facial care, body care, manicure, makeup, etc., all of which can be experienced in daily life," said Feng Qianrong, an event staff.

The reporter saw at the scene that black couches for massage occupied in the center, with a stack of white towels neatly placed at the head of the couches. In the toolkits of contestants from various countries, small items such as alcohol and drugs were carefully classified for easy access at any time.

"Many people may not yet understand that massage is a global skill, with different massage styles in different regions," introduced Feng Qianrong, adding that in Europe, Swedish style massage is mainly used, with more gentle fingerings, mainly for muscle relaxation; Chinese massage combines acupoints in traditional Chinese medicine meridian with European massage techniques, including kneading and pressing with fingers, massaging with palms…

"This competition is about freestyle massage of any styles. 11 contestants from countries or regions such as China, France, Canada, and Australia can show their massage skills with the characteristics of their own countries or regions," said Feng Qianrong.

Polishing jewelry by hand

At the jewelry processing arena, each table was equipped with a set of professional jewelry processing tools: a small crane quietly hung on one side of the table, files sparkled with metallic luster, with sharp and tough saw teeth.

Sawing, cutting, filing, hammering, welding... Without machinery, contestants could only use their hands and tools to finely process various precious metal materials, to complete the process within the required time, and produce well-bedded jewelry work pieces that were consistent with the drawings.

"The jewelry processing competition is about making exquisite jewelry from precious metal materials based on design drawings with various techniques." A competition staff Huang Chaoyang further explained that within the required competition time, contestants needed to complete the molding, splicing and other processes of all modules and components to ensure that the final product is completely consistent with the dimension, size and shape on the drawings.

"We pursue efficiency in the modern society, so jewelry processing needs the support of machines. However, with the increasing personalized demands, purely handmade craftsmanship is receiving attention again, and jewelry that has been polished by hand is gradually favored by the market," said Huang Chaoyang.

Competition of drone full-process operations

Different from what the public have imagined, in this drone competition, an aerial display "speed and passion" was performed, and the entire process operations such as assembly, debugging, takeoff, etc. of drones were also tested. Only with the success of these operation steps, drones were able to “spread their wings to fly”.

There was a prominent simulator screen on the contestants’ workbench, with updated key parameters of the drone displayed on it in real-time. There were operation buttons such as power on and emergency stop at the bottom of the screen. Scanning the drone body, installing the brackets, rotating the blades, and manipulating the remote control... The contestants had to complete the assembly and debugging of drones within the required time, and conducted a "test fly" first it through simulation software.

In the center of the competition field, surrounded with a large white net, which is a specially designed for drone field flight. In this flying area, contestants would fly drones to show their flying skills and contingency ability, completing the final stage of the competition.

"The entire competition process was compact, covering four stages: assembly, debugging, simulated flying, and field flying, and it was required to be completed within four hours. Time was limited," an event staff Qian Wenjun told the reporter. The assembly stage tested whether the contestants were able to correctly assemble the drone parts, whether the screws were tightened properly, and whether the wiring was correct. While the debugging phase required that the contestants be proficient in unlocking the motor with the remote control and ensure that drones could take off smoothly.

"We look forward to witnessing a wonderful competition and sharing a feast of technology with you here," said Qian Wenjun. (Translated by Jane, Fathom Language Limited)
