Nearly 200 sports events to be held in Chongqing in the latter half of this year

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On June 26, Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Sports released the schedule of major sports events in Chongqing in the latter half of 2024, including nearly 200 events such as the Cup of China ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, the “Belt and Road” Basketball Championship Challenge, and Chongqing · Wansheng “Black Valley Cup” International Badminton Challenge.

The schedule of major sports events and activities in the second half of 2024 is mainly consisted of four parts, including the competitive sports events, mass sports events (activities), youth sports events (activities) as well as the events (activities) organized by the Municipal Social Sports Guidance Center.

Competitive sports events are categorized into international events, national (regional) events and municipal events. In terms of international events, the “Belt and Road” Basketball Championship Challenge and the Asian Youth Rock Climbing Championship will be staged in October, and the much-anticipated Cup of China ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating will be kicked off in November at the Bloomage Culture and Sports Center.

In terms of national (regional) events, Chongqing will host 13 domestic events in the second half of this year, including the Men’s Final of the National (U21) Youth Basketball Championship and the National Men’s Handball Championship in Wanzhou District; the National Fencing Championship which will be held in August at Chongqing International Expo Center; and the popular National Artistic Gymnastics Championship which will be staged in October at Huo Yingdong Gymnasium, Chongqing University.

As for mass sports events (activities), there will be as many as 54 in the second half of 2024. Among these events, none is more popular than a series of marathons. The schedule shows that Chongqing will hold a series of marathons such as 2024 Chongqing Half Marathon, 2024 Youyang Changpu Grassland Elite Half Marathon, 2024 Fuling Baiheliang Half Marathon, 2024 Chongqing Tieshanping Forest Half Marathon, 2024 Chongqing Kaizhou · Hanfeng Lake Half Marathon, 2024 Chongqing Landmark Riverside Park Half Marathon and other marathons so that the majority of marathon enthusiasts can feel the joy of running.

In terms of youth sports events (activities), there are as many as 82 kinds of events, covering football, basketball, track and field, table tennis, artistic gymnastics, Taekwondo, rock climbing, diving and many others. Moreover, Chongqing Community Parent-Child Sports Meeting (Series), Chongqing Youth Aviation Model Championship, the Second Sichuan-Chongqing Youth Low-altitude Flight (Aviation Model and Drone) Series and other special activities will be held.

In addition, the Municipal Social Sports Guidance Center plans to carry out nearly 30 novel events such as 2024 China National Fitness Walking (Running) Competition, 2024 Happy Family Tennis Skills Challenge, 2024 Chongqing National Fitness Series for Rural Revitalization, Sichuan-Chongqing Social Sports Instructor Exchange and Display Competition, and 2024 Chongqing Pickleball Challenge.
