CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the summer travel season starts, graduation trips, family trips, and leisure trips have been rising. It is expected that tourist destinations in various cities in China will become popular, and outbound tourism will also show a significant growth trend this summer, said Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
Based on the flight schedule of airlines, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport anticipates approximately 59,200 flights and roughly 8.9 million passenger trips between July 1 and August 31 this year. The daily average passenger flow is expected to reach 143,500, with a peak daily passenger count of 160,000.
To meet the travel needs of passengers during the summer, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has actively coordinated airlines to open and increase multiple popular tourist routes.
For domestic passenger routes, Air China will increase flight services from Chongqing to Yinchuan, Hohhot, and Tianjin; Sichuan Airlines will increase flight services from Chongqing to Hefei, Jinan, Yinchuan, and Xining; Chongqing Airlines will resume and open routes from Chongqing to Kashgar, Yining, and Beihai, and increase flight services from Chongqing to Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Urumqi; West Air will launch Chongqing-Wulong-Nanjing and Chongqing-Ganzhou-Tianjin routes, and resume routes from Chongqing to Hohhot and Xining; Hainan Airlines will open a new route from Chongqing to Kashgar.
Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has opened and resumed seven international passenger routes, including Chongqing-Seattle, Chongqing-Milan, Chongqing-Hanoi, Chongqing-Nha Trang, Chongqing-Vientiane, Chongqing-Phnom Penh, and Chongqing-Columbo-Male. The airport has also increased the flight services for the Chongqing-Singapore route to three flights a day, the Chongqing-Seoul route to two flights a day, the Chongqing-Bangkok route to three flights a day, the Chongqing-Phuket route to two flights a day, and the Chongqing-Kuala Lumpur route to one flight a day.
It’s worth noting that Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has introduced electronic boarding passes for some international (regional) flights since May 20 this year. After completing online check-in, passengers departing from Chongqing on Cathay Pacific flights to Hong Kong can complete customs, immigration, security, and boarding procedures with a valid travel document and an electronic boarding pass, enjoying completely paperless outbound travel. Electronic boarding passes have greatly facilitated the travel in Chongqing.
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport operates 26 international (regional) passenger routes, offering more than 150 flights per week, connecting Chongqing with popular tourist cities around the world such as Seattle, London, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Budapest, Sydney, Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Seoul, Osaka, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City. The airport plans to open regular passenger routes from Chongqing to Jakarta and Penang, resume charter flights from Chongqing to Koh Samui, and increase flight services from Chongqing to Kuala Lumpur shortly to make outbound travel easier for the general public during the summer.
