CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Direct flights between Chongqing and Malaysia's Penang will commence service on July 23, marking the beginning of the first non-stop flight service between Chongqing and Penang and the first direct flight to Penang in the central and western regions of China, according to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

Operated by Malaysia Firefly, the Chongqing-Penang air route will offer three flights every week using a Boeing 737 aircraft. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, the flight departing Penang at 21:30 the previous day will arrive in Chongqing at 2:00; the return flight will leave Chongqing at 3:00 and arrive in Penang at 7:30. The one-way trip will take around four hours and 30 minutes. (All times above are local times. Please note that the actual flight schedule may differ due to adjustments)

As the second largest city in Malaysia, Penang is known as the Oriental Garden, the Emerald of the Indian Ocean, and the Silicon Valley of the East. It is one of Malaysia's tourist destinations. Today, the mutual visa exemption policy between Malaysia and China, coupled with the launch of the direct flight between Chongqing and Penang, will greatly facilitate the travel of passengers between the two nations.
