CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 6, 2024 YONEX “Li Xuerui Cup” Youth Badminton Competition was opened at Dadukou Gymnasium. This competition is a new 2-day event launched for the “Li Xuerui Cup” series, attracting nearly 300 children to participate.

“We only set up a Singles Match for this competition for children to prepare for the upcoming Chongqing Municipal Games,” Li Xuerui introduced.

At the competition site, Li Xuerui not only carefully watched the children’s matches, but also coached the eventual champion young players, as the start of this competition also marks the continuation of her desire and plan to promote badminton.

“I hope that children will have more platforms to show and grow, and more children will join the big family of badminton through my efforts.” Li Xuerui told the reporter that the success of this competition also marks the further improvement of the competition system.

Founded in 2013, “Li Xuerui Cup” Badminton Tournament has become one of the most influential amateur badminton tournaments with the highest level of competition in Southwest China with after years of development. Last year, the tournament ushered in its tenth birthday, Li Xuerui made a wish at the “birthday ceremony” that: “I hope there will be more series of events to attract more badminton fans to participate in”.

This year, such wish came true. 2024 “Li Xuerui Cup” Mixed Team Badminton Tournament started in April in Yunyang; and three months later, the youth tournament was also launched, which makes the competition system of “Li Xuerui Cup” more complete.

“We hold team, adult and youth competitions, and now we plan to improve such three competitions first so that people can participate both competitively and with fun.” At the same time, Li Xuerui also has the idea of holding parent-child competition, and she said that “It’s good to promote the parent-child relationship.
