CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 16, 2024 Chongqing Youth Cross-country Skier (Roller Skater) Training Camp was opened at Wansheng Sports Center. The reporter learned that Beijing Winter Olympic Games Cross-country Skiing Technical Official Wang Yihan was specially invited to be the Head Coach so that the youth cross-country skiing (roller skating) athletes of Chongqing can locally receive high-level professional training opportunities.

This training camp is sponsored by Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Sports, and undertaken by Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center and Wansheng Economic Development Zone Sports Development Center.

“During this training process, I will focus on explaining and demonstrating the professional technical movements of the cross-country skiing (roller skating) as well as the principles embedded so as to help you build a good foundation and improve the effectiveness of training.” Before the official start of training, the Head Coach Wang Yihan introduced.

This training camp will last for 5 days. During the training period, the Head Coach will enhance the comprehensive ability of the athletes participating through theoretical explanation and combination with actual practice. After the training, the athletes pasting the test will be issued the certificate of completion by Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center, and those with excellent results will have the opportunity to be selected into the cross-country skiing team reserve talent pool of Chongqing.

In recent years, Chongqing cross-country skiing has been developing rapidly, and achieved outstanding results. Chongqing Cross-country Skiing Team, which is less than two years old, led by Wang Qiang, Zhang Yan and other domestic first-class high-level athletes, won 5 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals in the 14th National Winter Games at the beginning of this year, setting a record of Chongqing skiing and skating.
