CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Starting July 18, over 100 museums in Chongqing that offer free admission have abolished the reservation requirement.
This decision was made by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism in its recent Notice on Further Improving the Opening and Service of Museums, with an aim to give full play to the public service function of museums and further improve their opening and service so as to meet the public's cultural demands more effectively. According to the Notice, except for the Three Gorges Museum, the Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum, the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, and the Chongqing Great Bombing Memorial Hall, all other free-admission museums in Chongqing will no longer require reservations starting from July 18.
The Notice also requires that museums that abolish the reservation requirement should increase the entry channels, optimize the security check process, and shorten the queuing time. For museums that retain the reservation system, they should optimize it. While vigorously promoting online reservations, they should also retain staff service windows and telephone reservations to provide convenient services for primary and secondary school students, the elderly, the disabled, and those with difficulties using intelligent devices. Relevant equipment should be put in place to facilitate international visitors to the museum with a social security card.
In addition, the Notice emphasizes that free-admission museums in Chongqing should optimize the venue environment, improve the supporting facilities and equipment, ensure that the guidance system and signage are clear, and the basic service items and facilities such as shading and sun protection, drinking water, resting places, staff assistance, item storage, and toilets are in good condition and easily accessible. Service facilities and equipment for special groups of people, such as barrier-free access, should also be available to provide the audience with a more comfortable, safer, and more convenient visiting experience. At the same time, they should train a high-quality and professional team of docents and offer self-service audio guides to enhance the tour guide service.
Furthermore, the Notice mentions that key and popular venues should, based on the actual situation, extend the opening hours appropriately to fulfill the public's visiting needs. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
