CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On the early morning of July 23, with Firefly Airlines Malaysia FY3846 carrying 180 passengers landed smoothly in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport T3, the direct flight from Chongqing to Penang, Malaysia officially opened. It is understood that this is the first time Chongqing opened Chongqing ⇌ Penang regular passenger route, and the only direct flight in the central and western regions of the regular passenger route to Penang.

The route is operated by Firefly Airlines Malaysia which plans to operate 3 flights per week, with Boeing 737 departing from Chongqing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight takes off from Penang at 21:30 and arrives in Chongqing at 02:00 the next day, and takes off from Chongqing at 03:00 and arrives in Penang at 07:30 (all of the above is the local time), with a flight duration of about 4 hours and 15 minutes.

It is reported that China and Malaysia are currently implementing a mutual visa-free entry policy, so the opening of Chongqing ⇌ Penang route will provide convenience for the citizens to travel to Penang.

Since this year, the international (regional) passenger flights of Jiangbei Airport have increased significantly. So far, Jiangbei Airport has provided service for more than 800,000 international (regional) passengers, with a growth of nearly two times on a year-on-year basis, which has exceeded the number of the whole year of 2023.
